Toyota has given their well-loved Fortuner the GR-S treatment, which includes enhanced off-road capability and refined performance along with the addition of bold sporty styling touches to the Fortuner’s winning recipe.

Following in the footsteps of the Hilux GR-S, the Fortuner now joins Toyota’s growing lineup of GR-S models that includes the Hilux GR-S, Land Cruiser GR-S and Corolla Cross GR-S.

The upgrades mean that the Fortuner now also features the most powerful diesel engine fitted to this model to date.

Sporty exterior design

The Fortuner GR-S has been treated to a variety of styling upgrades to enhance its sporty pedigree. This includes a dynamic new front bumper and reworked lower grille along with new fog lamp bezels. At the rear a redesigned bumper incorporating a streamlined rear diffuser enhances its sporty, commanding presence. Concluding the exterior enhancements is the fitment of 18-inch GR alloy wheels. The Fortuner GR-S is available exclusively in Attitude Black and Platinum Pearl White.

A sporty theme inside

The motorsport inspired theme continues inside where a black and red interior theme is complimented by smoked silver metallic and matte carbon trims that exude a sleek modern aesthetic.

Gazoo Racing sport seats are upholstered in perforated leather and suede along with striking red stitching and offer outstanding comfort and support in conjunction with GR-branded headrests.

A GR-badged steering wheel incorporates a bold red centre marking and a GR-start button reminds owners of this models’ sporty credentials. Rounding off the sporty touch points are aluminium brake and accelerator pedals.

Enhanced performance and handling

Sporty exterior and interior styling are reinforced by an uprated drivetrain. Under the bonnet of the Fortuner GR-S is a 2.8 GD-6 diesel engine that delivers 165kW and 550Nm, making it the most powerful Fortuner variant to date. Power is transferred to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission and a 4x4 and all-wheel drive system.

Handling improvements are taken care of by the fitment of a monotube shock absorber system that delivers exceptional ride comfort and precise handling. Built on a rugged ladder-on-frame chassis the Fortuner is designed to withstand the harshest conditions.
