Lepas to launch in SA with three SUVs

Chery South Africa has added the Lepas brand to their South African portfolio, representing the sixth brand that is retailed under their umbrella.

The name Lepas was derived from the words leap and passion and is said to reflect a brand built on movement, vitality and expressive energy.

Lepas will begin retailing in February 2026 with a model range that comprises three SUVs that are all elegant, expressive and tailored to a contemporary lifestyle.

All three models are based on the LET platform, which is able to accommodate a variety of transmissions and engine layouts.

Possible engine derivatives include a 1.5 litre, 1.5-litre turbocharged, 1.6-litre turbocharged, 2.0 turbocharged, a fully electric BEV and Super Hybrid models that offer an electric driving experience along with ultra-low fuel consumption and an impressive driving range.

Lepas L4

Kicking off the range is the Lepas L4, a stylish, compact SUV featuring a minimalist design that is aimed at young urban conscious and tech savvy motorists looking for affordable luxury paired with standout design.

The L4 has been designed around the brands Leopard aesthetics, which were inspired by a running leopard’s dynamic muscle lines. The design conveys the balance between power and elegance through sleek bodywork along with vertical-slit headlights that mimic a leopard’s agile eyes.

The Lepas L4 will be sold with both petrol and hybrid engine options in South Africa.

Lepas L6

The Lepas L6 is a medium sized SUV aimed at young families and couples looking for elegance and practicality in conjunction with advanced performance. The model is differentiated by a sophisticated and stylish design.

In South Africa the Lepas L6 will be offered with petrol and plug-in hybrid drivetrains.

Lepas L8

The Lepas L8 is a large, luxury SUV aimed at established professionals and entrepreneurs looking for refinement tech and an elegant mobility choice.

The design of the Lepas L8 is bold, with sculpted exterior lines inspired by the stance of a Leopard. A spacious and sumptuously trimmed interior is home to the latest driver assistance technologies.
