LDV entered the South African market in 2024, but this brand has an extensive history of automobile production.
Born in the UK in 1896 it evolved to become Leyland DAF vehicles in 1987 and later became known by its acronym, LDV.
Today the LDV brand is best known for its bakkies, SUVs and vans and forms part of SAIC Motor, the largest vehicle manufacturer in China and one of the ten largest vehicle manufacturers in the world.
