iCaur, the expressive new energy vehicle brand that forms part of the Chery group is set to launch in South Africa imminently.
Founded in 2023, iCaur exists to redefine how people connect with their cars, combining clean energy technology, attractive design and a lifestyle-first approach to mobility.
The brand enters South Africa with a clear ambition of helping to accelerate the shift towards smarter, greener transportation, while bringing fresh and emotionally engaging products to South Africa’s roads.
iCaur brings a new energy to the market, combining striking design with advanced EV technology and a playful, user centric spirit.
The range will launch with two models, the 03T and the V23. Both of these advanced, fully electric SUVs offer a distinctive experience.
The 03T pairs sleek urban crossover style with adventurous wide-body SUV lines and an innovative aluminium construction.
The V23 takes inspiration from robust and retro design, pairing it with an adaptable interior and mechanical knobs, along with a broad level of customisation. With up to 24 interchangeable pieces, the V23 can reflect the driver’s personal style.
The brands upcoming portfolio caters to those who mix, match and make life their own, with a smart cockpit experience, five-star safety, class-leading battery technologies and design cues that blend retro nostalgia with futuristic cyber aesthetics.
Beneath its confident exterior, iCaur’s technology reinforces its promise of dependable innovation. The Golden REEV hybrid system merges efficiency with performance, using a compact turbocharged engine and an optimised hybrid setup, resulting in lower fuel consumption without compromising on driving confidence and performance.
The i-AWD system adds control and stability, automatically adjusting power delivery to suit varying off-road surfaces.
The V23 features practical mounting points on the body and modular roof racks that accommodate basic custom applications without the need for any special tools. There are also quick-release front and rear bumpers and side-hinged storage boxes that can be exchanged quickly and easily.
A fully customisable design system sits at the heart of the iCaur’s market appeal, with both the V23 and V27 models a canvas that allows owners to shape their vehicle to match their taste. The modular structure supports simple adjustments to panels, lighting and accessories without the need for special tools. Final appearances can range from a bold futuristic look to a clean retro finish. This flexibility allows South African motorists to easily adapt their iCaur to suit city life, leisure travel or more adventurous lifestyles.
iCaur V27
The line-up will be bolstered by the addition of the V27 later in the year.
The V27 is the brands flagship model and offers the Future Classic design concept which delivers a combination of refined design, advanced technology, strong performance and comprehensive safety.
With a wide stance, short front overhang, long bonnet and elongated body, the V27 radiates a confident presence. Unique scoop surfaces add a refined visual texture, while a low window line and large side windows offer a panoramic outward view. The front features eight interchangeable colour elements and the rear includes retro-inspired headlights. Two tailgate designs are available to suit customer preferences.
The interior introduces the Stellar Concept which merges modern technology with a robust interior design. A porthole dual panoramic sunroof is paired with an eye-catching floating start island ceiling and ambient lighting that creates a distinctive atmosphere at night.
The V27 features iCaur’s range extender electric vehicle (REEV) system, that is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine. The dual motor setup delivers 339kW, allowing the V27 to accelerate from 0-100km/h in five seconds. The 34.3kWh battery unlocks an electric range of 156km, while the total driving range is in excess of 1 000km.
A network of 20 dealers
The brand will launch with an initial network of 20 dealerships, with further expansion planned as demand and market opportunities evolve over the next 12 to 24 months. Each dealership location will reflect the brand’s distinctive identity, combining functional retail spaces with a lifestyle-driven, immersive environment designed to resonate with modern customers.
