The brands ongoing commitment to South Africa as well as a diverse and extensive product range has seen it slowly climb the sales charts, to a point where it is a regular top ten performer, currently sitting at 9th place in the combined vehicle sales charts, and 6th place on both the passenger and the light commercial vehicle sales charts.
GWMs model offering is split into four sub brands in South Africa which include Haval, P-Series, Tank and Ora.
A comprehensive range of Haval SUVs
The Haval sub brand represents GWMs SUV offering which currently includes the Haval Jolion, Havel H6, H6 HEV, H6 GT and H7.
The Haval Jolion is one of the best sellers in the range and the recently added Jolion Pro builds on the Jolion’s winning recipe with numerous extensive updates. This includes a revised, modern exterior, which includes LED lights all round.
The interior features a significantly updated interior design that includes a padded dashboard and smart lateral element. The central infotainment screen floats above a row of one touch buttons and measures 10.25-inches on Premium models and 12.3-inches on Luxury models.
The Haval Jolion Pro range is available with a choice of three engines. Premium, Super Luxury and Ultra Luxury derivatives feature a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine paired with a seven-speed DCT transmission that produces 105kW and 210Nm.
The sportier 1.5TS is paired to a seven-speed DCT transmission and offers 130kW and 270Nm and is available exclusively in Ultra Luxury guise.
The top of the range Haval Jolion Pro 1.5 HEV Ultra Luxury DHT makes use of a hybrid powertrain to produce a total of 140kW and 375Nm.
The Haval H6 GT is a trendy coupe that combines bold design with advanced performance. Under the bonnet is a potent 2.0-litre turbocharged engine delivering 155kW and 325Nm.
The H6 Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) features a hybrid drivetrain that combines a turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor. The result is performance of 179kW and 530Nm while using as little as 5,2 litres per 100km on the combined cycle.
From the outside, every feature, from the futuristic LED headlights and gloss black accents to the sporty rear spoiler and panoramic sunroof showcase that the Haval H6 is here to drive you into a smart new world.
The Haval H7 is the brands flagship SUV and promises to offer enough space for a family and all their kit, luxury features that exceed those of the H6 and a high degree of off-road capability.
The H7 features a more retro look, emphasised by a square shape, round headlights, large alloy wheels housed in bold wheel arches and a sculpted side profile.
At launch the Haval H7 will be available with two engine options. This includes a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that offers 170kW and 380Nm and which can be paired with either a four-wheel drive or a front-wheel drive drivetrain.
The H7 is also available with GWM’s turbocharged hybrid engine paired to a dual hybrid transmission. This option delivers 179kW along with 530Nm.
The P-Series bakkie range
The P-Series is reserved for GWM’s range of bakkies, which includes the P-Series 2.0, P300 and P500.
Since its launch in December 2020, the GWM P- Series has ensured great success for the Chinese brand and has been one of its best sellers. The P-Series has been able to achieve what many other established players have struggled to do in a market where customers are extremely loyal, thanks to the combination of a good product and excellent value for money.
The recently launched P300 features modern styling and equipment as well as the introduction of a new 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine that offers 135kW and 480Nm, paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The GWM P300 continues to utilise an Intelligent 4WD system as well as electronic diff locks. Off-road expert mode allows it to conquer tough off-road conditions.
GWM Tank offers real off-road ability combined with extreme luxury
Under the Tank banner, GWM offer large SUVs with real 4x4 ability. Models include the Tank 300 and Tank 500. Both models blend high-end luxury with robust off-road capabilities, making them the perfect vehicle for those that crave adventure without sacrificing comfort or luxury.
As GWM’s latest flagship model, the Tank 500 offers the latest in technology which includes a variety of advanced features aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and safety across all three rows, on and off-road use and off-road driving capabilities.
The Tank 500 is powered by a direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine that works in conjunction with the latest in electric driving technology to deliver a total power output of 255kW and 648Nm.
One of SA’s most affordable electric models
The Ora nomenclature is reserved for GWM’s fully electric models which currently includes the Ora 03, which is one of SA’s most affordable electric vehicles.
