Changan, one of China’s big four automotive groups that has evolved into a global presence is poised to re-enter the South African market in October. The brand will launch locally with a line-up of four-models that includes a sedan, two SUVs and a double cab bakkie.

Changan Alsvin

The Changan Alsvin is a mid-sized sedan that is styled with sleek aerodynamic lines, a bold butterfly grille and signature LED daytime running lights. Interior space and features are set to make it the perfect choice for fleets and ride-hailing operators. Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre engine that offers 78kW and 145Nm and which is paired to a five-speed DCT transmission.

Changan CS75 Pro

The Changan CS75 Pro is a modern SUV that is available in both five-or-seven-seater configurations. Styling is differentiated by a dynamic mesh grille, signature LED daytime running lights and premium chrome accents as it blends bold, modern styling with a commanding road presence.

The interior combines luxury with functionality as a modern, sophisticated cockpit design features the latest in tech such as a digital driver display and intelligent voice control, a 360-degree camera and human machine interfaces that keeps the driver connected. The Changan CS75 Pro is powered by a 1.5-litre engine that offers 138kW and 300Nm.

The fully electric Deepal S07

The Changan Deepal S07 is a fully electric SUV that combines comfort with intuitive modern intelligence. A fully electric drivetrain offers 160kW and 320Nm along with a driving range of 560km thanks to a 66.8kWh battery.

Design highlights include sleek lines, frameless doors and a sculpted profile.

The interior is dominated by a minimalistic wraparound centre console, premium soft-touch materials and uniquely crafted door panelling that adds a premium look and feel. A large 15.6-inch, high-definition centrally mounted infotainment screen can rotate left or right by 15 degrees for a better viewing angle. Intelligent gesture control allows customers to control various functions with simple hand gestures.

The Changan Deepal S07 is jam packed with the latest technology including an augmented reality heads-up display, adaptive cruise control with lane keep assist, gesture control and mobile phone key functionality.

Hunter double cab bakkie

The Changan Hunter is a double cab bakkie that boasts an aggressive grille and sleek futuristic lines that result in a modern, aggressive yet sleek bakkie. This is rounded off by tough, utility ready details.

The interior is modern and well equipped and features wireless charging, Wi-Fi over the air updates and a massive 12.3-inch HD infotainment system. Standard safety equipment includes Active Yaw Control, Trailer Sway Control and multiple drive modes.

The Changan Hunter will be available with two powerplants, including a diesel and a Range Extender electric. The 2.0-litre turbodiesel offers 110kW and 360Nm and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The Hunter REEV utilises a small, efficient gasoline engine which acts only as a generator to recharge the battery and facilitates a range of over 1000km. Power is impressive with 200kW and 470Nm on tap. This technology offers South Africans the advantages of electric driving including quiet operation, instant power delivery, low emissions and smart features while eliminating range anxiety.
