Motus Focus: Audi's For Sale

The German Trio of BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi has dominated the luxury consumer market since their first cars rolled off the production line. Prominent carmaker Audi stands out for its fine craftsmanship and innovative designs. But there is simply no comparison between these three key players because each excels on its own.

With our focus on our Audis for sale this April, we explore just what sets them apart from these other German greats. Audi has a reputation for expert engineering and cutting-edge technology. It has mastered seamlessly blending performance, luxury, and innovation with ease.

Audi has struck a perfect balance between dynamic driving and comfort to offer customers a truly remarkable experience from start to finish. From the polished lines of the A3 to the sophisticated finishes of the Q5, you are bound to find the car for you with Motus Select.

Below are the exhilarating selections to consider when car shopping this month with us.

Compact Comfort: The Audi A3

The Audi A3 is a city-slick hatchback with refined engineering in compact form. It is the ideal car for drivers weaving in and out of traffic and across busy intersections. Premier exterior lines accompany an equally luxurious interior, with several Sportback options that vary between its urban and black editions.

The latest base models include a 1.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with an 8-speed automated transmission gearbox. This FWD (Front-Wheel Drive) hatch consumes approximately 6.2 litres per 100 km of fuel. The A3 continues to exude compact luxury with its interior and exterior features on select models.

Features include a scenic sunroof, 18-inch wheels, and leather upholstery. The interior features fine accents that create a cohesive and ergonomic flow. Practical and stylish, this Sportback also boasts features such as a rear parking distance control system, 2-zone climate control, contour ambient lighting, and a sports steering wheel.

Performance Meets Practicality: The Audi A5

The Audi A5 is a fine example of what happens when car manufacturers fuse function with form. Made for the city, it is the perfect companion to turn heads with every curve. The bold design makes for a stellar collection of coupes, sports backs, or cabriolet models.

In our opinion, the Audi A5 Coupe is certainly a standout car for navigating city streets. From its iconic honeycomb front grille to its sleek silhouette and powerful engine, It comes fitted with a 4-cylinder, 2L turbocharged petrol engine and a 7-speed automated transmission gearbox on base models.

This FWD coupe has an acclaimed 8.5L/100km fuel consumption rate, which is slightly more than expected for a car of this standing. However, it also boasts top speeds of 240 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100km in 7.3 seconds.

The pronounced wheel arches are the perfect accompaniment for the 20-inch alloy wheel on some models. The tailpipe trims are also a nice touch for those who appreciate attention to detail when it comes to exteriors. Additionally, features such as the exit warning, the driver-oriented display, and the driving mode selector (dynamic, comfort, auto, individual, and efficiency) make for a compelling consideration.

Stylishly Spirited: The Audi Q3

When it comes to compact SUVs, the Audi Q3 is an exceptional choice. It is much smaller in size than the majority of SUVs on the market, but it has redefined what luxury means from an adventurer’s perspective.

Visually striking, the Audi Q3 is designed for the family without compromising on style or exclusivity in any way. Base models start with a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 7-speed automated transmission gearbox. Fuel consumption is on par with the rest of the SUV segment, with a reasonable 8.3 L/100 km.

A car that is made for driving, on and off-road, promises a comfortable and connected experience for every journey. It has a large luggage capacity of 550 litres but can be extended with the split-fold rear seating to an incredible 1525 litres. USB portability, smartphone integration, and wireless charging all make for an upmarket adventure.

Audi’s range is more than just capable cars; it is a statement of urban elegance and practicality. Advanced engineering ensures a smooth, almost effortless drive in any condition. No matter the car, it’s guaranteed to rise to the occasion with confidence and style.

At Motus Select, we bring you an enthralling selection of modern, sleek Audi models tailored to your tastes. Hatchback, sedan, or SUV, our range is bound to command attention in the best way possible. Volkswagen Golf R finally headed to SA

Volkswagen Golf R finally headed to SA

The flagship eighth generation Golf promises to be more powerful, more dynamic, more efficient, more closely integrated and more digital.

The most powerful production version of the Volkswagen Golf ever made available to the public will be launched in South Africa.

Since its initial launch in 2007, 6000 units of the Golf R have found homes in South Africa and the latest iteration reign’s supreme as the model range’s most powerful hatch to date.

The flagship eighth generation Golf promises to be more powerful, more dynamic, more efficient, more closely integrated and more digital.

Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder EA 888 engine that produces 235kW and 400Nm and paired with a seven-speed DSG gearbox it allows the Golf R to accelerate to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 250km/h. Volkswagen claim that it will use just 7,8 litres per 100km.

A new all-wheel drive system and high tech running gear merge to create a host of innovations whilst offering maximum agility and driving pleasure. The 4Motion system with R-Performance Torque Vectoring handles the transfer of power to the road via all four wheels. A new final drive distributes power between the front and rear axles and also variably between the rear wheels. This allows for significantly increased agility, especially when cornering.

The all-wheel drive is also linked via a Vehicle Dynamics Manager to other running gear systems such as the electronic differential locks and adaptive chassis control, resulting in optimum traction and neutral handling.

The Golf R is equipped with a high level of standard equipment including mobile inductive charging, a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry with safelock, an electric tailgate, Discover pro system with satellite navigation, wireless App Connect and Voice Control, 19-inch Estoril alloy wheels, Adaptive Chassis Control including driving profile selection, Light and Vision Package and Nappa leather seats.

Tow safely

Tow safely

If you will be towing a trailer, boat or caravan  it should be done correctly to avoid damage to your vehicle, accidents and our roads. These five tips will go a long way in ensuring a safe towing experience.

Service trailers correctly

Before setting off on your journey it is important to make sure that the trailer or caravan has been properly serviced by a competent and accredited repairer. Very often trailers and caravans stand idle for long periods of time and this is not good for a variety of components. It is important to carefully inspect the brakes, if fitted, electrical connections and components such as lights and cables. Special attention needs to be given to running gear such as wheel bearings and tyres. It is important to remember that it is not only a tyres tread that is important but also the condition and age. A tyre might still have lots of tread on it but could be well past its safe usage date.

Make sure that you have the correct spare wheel, tools and equipment to change the spare wheel. Your jack should be rated for the trailer as well as the load you will be carrying.

Check your licences

It is important to make sure that the trailer is correctly licenced and that you as the driver have the correct licence. A South African drivers licence determines what you can drive and what you are allowed to pull. It is very important to bear in mind if what you are towing falls within the legal requirements in terms of the combined weight of your vehicle and the trailer you are towing.

Budget accordingly

It is important to consider the cost of fuel and fuel consumption before heading off on holiday with a trailer or caravan in tow. Towing will have a significant effect on your fuel consumption and can as much as double your normal fuel consumption. This will mean additional costs and the need to stop more regularly.

Watch your speed

Speeding is the number one cause of accidents when towing. Drivers need to be aware that your stopping distance will be far longer when towing and it will exponentially increase as your speed does. Passing heavy vehicles can also create a vortex, which can affect the stability of the towing combination. It is important not to use excessive braking when navigating steep descents as this can cause brakes to overheat and not work efficiently, rather select a lower gear to slow the rig down and limit the reliance on the braking system.

Spread the weight

Weight and the distribution thereof is an important factor in ensuring a safe and stable towing experience. If more than 40 percent of the weight is placed behind the axle, the trailer could become unstable and therefore at least 60 percent of the weight should be loaded in front of the axle. This is important to remember when loading, especially when it comes to long trailers or the contents that is loaded inside a caravan.

Chery Omoda sub brand

Chery Omoda sub brand

The Omoda C5 is a sporty compact SUV in size and is fitted with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

The Chery Group has launched a new brand named Omoda which is the result of a clean slate approach by the group’s designers, engineers and technicians which gave these experts free reign to create a new model line-up. The first model in their offering is the Omoda C5

What is it?

Omoda is the luxury arm of Chery, which is kind of trying to be what Lexus is to Toyota and while they are marketed and branded Chery in other markets, in South Africa they aim to be their own entity, devoid of any Chery branding.

The Omoda C5 is a sporty compact SUV in size and is fitted with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

In your face design

The design is very modern and comprises sleek, sporty styling and a sloping roof that rests on darkened pillars for a floating look.

The multi-dimensional grille cannot be missed as it overpowers the front end. Contained in the grille are upright mounted front headlamps and thin T-Sharp designed daytime running lights. The mix of flowing curves and sharp lines continues along the side profile. The rear design reminds of SUVs from other Chinese manufacturers and includes a dual stacked roof spoiler and multi-dimensional lights, which Omoda call X-wing lights due to their use of sharp lines and multiple LEDs.

Many of these unique design elements are further enhanced with contrasting red highlights on the Elegance S-model such as on the inside planes of the alloy wheels, the front skirt, side mirrors and stacked rear wings. The designed is backed up by funky colours which include three two-tone options.

Luxury, modern interior

When designing the interior engineers were able to experiment with a unique human and machine interface while incorporating popular features such as voice commands and a seamless digital interface.

The futuristic experience starts with dual high resolution 10.25-inch digital displays that are customisable. These screens, one in the centre console and one behind the steering wheel flow into each other and allow for multiple manners of displaying vehicle, safety and infotainment information. Smartphone mirroring capability courtesy of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can be done wirelessly while your phone rests on a felt lined wireless charging platform. Below this platform is a hidden storage space and a variety of USB and power outlets.

Below the central screen is a multi-touch air conditioning panel which conveys climate control information through the use of the digital display. The climate control system is self-cleaning and has a high-grade filtration system built in to ensure clean interior air. To the right of the climate control system is a start button and the C5 can also be started remotely with the key fob.

Upfront the sport seats are extremely comfortable and rear leg room is in line with that of its competitors. Elegance and Elegance S derivatives are fitted with added luxury features such as power adjustment and ventilation of the front seats, leather upholstery, a powered sunroof that is also voice activated, a more powerful eight-speaker Sony sound system, additional ambient lighting and a full 360-degree camera system that offers a panoramic view of the vehicle and a powered tailgate.

Under the bonnet

The Omoda C5 is powered by a four-cylinder, 1,5-litre engine that offers 115kW and 230Nm. A CVT transmission transfers power to the front wheels. The engine has been sourced from the Chery family but retuned to offer slightly more power in this application, however that retune has also ensured smoother power delivery that results in an overall more refined driving experience.

This transmission is programmed with nine steps, which ensures good, smooth, power delivery, without any of the hunting that is common with this transmission format. The result is a smooth relaxing drive. Power is adequate and Omoda claim that the C5 will use just 6,9 litres per 100km. Economy and Sport driving modes allow for the tailoring of power delivery, steering feel and damping to the driver’s preference.

Chassis engineers have also done a great job with the suspension tuning, which in combination with generously profiled tyres results in great ride quality.

Five star-safety

All Omoda models on sale locally are fitted with six airbags, Isofix child seat anchors, smart seatbelt pre-tensioning, ABS brakes, tyre pressure monitoring and ESP and EBA.

Standard driver assistance features include front and rear parking sensors. Elegance models add to this offering with a full suite of Advanced Driver Assist Systems that include things like automatic high beam, adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, lane-keep assistance, lane departure warning and forward collision warning. In addition, automatic emergency braking and emergency lane keep assist further reduce the chances of being involved in an accident.
