Audi have upgraded their flagship SUV with a clear visual language and the latest in technology.
A fresh take on Audi’s design language
The fresh exterior design which includes new front and rear sections underscores the powerful character of this SUV, which continues to offer first-class versatility and space for up to seven passengers.
The overhangs and wheelbase demonstrate proportions that are powerful and confident, and which are further emphasised by distinctive exterior colours and wheels. The unmistakable upright Audi single frame grille with an octagon design now boasts vertical inlays. A new interplay between the grille’s contours and the headlights, which are now positioned slightly higher, results in a completely new front-end architecture that clearly emphasises the powerful and more present appearance of the new Q7. This is further underscored by new prominent, colour-framed air intakes.
The Q7 is now also available with HD Matrix LED headlights with laser and digital OLED rear lights with four selectable light designs.
New wheel options, colours, decorative inlays and seats with contrast stitching ensure an even higher level of versatility.
Thanks to an even more minimalist design, clean surfaces and exceptionally large volume, the Q7 represents adaptability in every situation.
Updated lighting offering
High-intensity Matrix LED headlights light up the road as standard. HD Matrix LED headlights with the Audi laser light are also available. Utilising 24 LEDs and a high-power laser diode each they are immediately recognisable via a blue ambient light incorporated into the headlights, which symbolises the precision of the laser technology. The laser light becomes active above 70km/h and significantly increases the high beam range.
The top of the range headlights now also incorporate digital daytime running light signatures that give the Q7 an unmistakable appearance by allowing the user to select one of four light signatures via the MMI.
The digital OLED rear lights feature a proximity indication feature that works in conjunction with the assistance systems, such as when other road users approach the stationary Q7 from behind and get within two metres, all the digital OLED segments are activated to alert the driver of the following car. Additional functions including dynamic turn signals as well as various coming home and leaving sequences are also incorporated into each of the digital lighting signatures.
Suspension with Audi’s DNA
The Audi Q7 now rides on adaptive air suspension or adaptive air suspension sport which adjusts the ride height by up to 90mm depending on the driver’s preferences and the driving situation.
In addition, all-wheel steering, which is standard fitment on the SQ7 TFSI, ensures an increased level of safety and comfort. At low speed the rear wheels can turn by up to five degrees in the opposite direction which reduces the turning circle by up to one metre. At high speeds this function facilitates more comfort and stability with the back wheels turning in the same direction as the front wheels.
Efficient and powerful drive systems
The updated Q7 is offered with a variety of powertrain options. The Q7 55 TFSi is fitted with a six-cylinder, 3.0-litre, petrol engine that delivers 250kW and 500Nm allowing it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 5.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 250km/h.
The SQ7 TFSI features a four-litre TFSI boasting 373kW and 770Nm paired to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission and all-wheel drive which facilitates a 0-100km/h sprint time of 4.1 seconds.
Versatile and spacious interior
Both the five and seven-seat versions of the Audi Q7 and SQ7 combine high prestige with everyday practicality as they offer generous length, headroom and elbowroom in both the front and rear as well as a luggage compartment that measures 867 litres in the five-seat derivative.
Model range and pricing
Audi South Africa will offer the 55 TFSI with Platinum Edition and Black Edition trim lines while the SQ7 can be specified with the Black Edition package. Pricing starts at R1 958 000 and includes a five-year/100 000km Audi Freeway Plan.
