The current Honda range comprises a total of nine models across the sedan, hatchback and SUV categories of the market with options that suit every need and budget.

Honda Amaze

The third generation Honda Amaze, offers fresh styling, enhanced comfort and upgraded features while representing excellent value for money.

Styling is dominated by a bold and confident grille that incorporates a distinctive chequered pattern, stylish LED lights and a low stance.

The rear design is equally striking, featuring a strong bumper that enhances the bold and progressive stance. LED taillights add to the modern aesthetic, mirroring the sharp and sleek design of the front headlights. All models ride on 15-inch alloy wheels.

Honda’s design philosophy of Man Maximum/Machine Minimum results in an interior that is designed around people. The design maximises space for passengers and minimises the space taken up by the vehicle’s mechanical components, culminating in an interior that prioritises practicality and comfort.

Interior highlights include a seven-inch driver display, automatic climate control and keyless entry. Centrally mounted on the dashboard is an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that facilitates smartphone mirroring via wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Amaze is powered by a 1.2-litre SOHC i-VTEC engine that produces 66kW and 110Nm and which is paired to either a five-speed manual transmission or a smooth shifting Continuously Variable Transmission.

Pricing starts at R254 900.

The Honda Fit, which took over from the brands highly successful Jazz remains a great contender in the practical hatchback category of the South African market.

The latest iteration boasts a cohesive characterful aesthetic which reflects the car’s dynamic personality, while retaining the iconic shape of the Fit with the clean, crisp horizontal lines and dynamic touches that add a new personality.

Design highlights include a honeycomb grille design, grained lower front bumper and matte black window frames and pillar trim.

The Honda Fit is available in both hybrid and traditionally powered derivatives. The Fit e:HEV offers 90kW and 253Nm thanks to the combined outputs of a traction motor and a 1.5-litre engine and is capable of using as little as 3,7 litres/100km on the combined cycle.

Traditionally powered models are fitted with Honda’s 1.5 litre DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine that generates 89kW at 6 600rpm and 145Nm at 4 300rpm. A fuel consumption

figure of 5,5 litres per 100km on the combined cycle contributes to low overall running costs.

The interior features a modern, driver-oriented design that combines functionality with high quality materials and good design. A minimalistic layout incorporates soft touch and accent materials of premium quality.

A 1.5-litre DOHC engine with i-VTEC technology achieves improved efficiency and reduced emissions, without compromising on performance. The result is 89kW at 6 600rpm and 145Nm at 4500rpm. A fuel consumption figure of 5,5 litres per 100km ticks the efficiency box.

This efficiency is achieved in part thanks to a revised version of Honda’s Continuously Variable Transmission, which features a G-Design shift control, which creates the sense of driving of a traditional automatic transmission thanks to the integration of artificial gears, but with the enhanced efficiency of a CVT.

Honda’s Type R models have a heritage that stretches back 30 years throughout which they have always been the embodiment of performance and refinement, and the latest model is no different.

Under the vented bonnet of the latest Type R is a powerful version of Honda’s award winning K20C1 engine of which output, torque and response have all been improved by a redesigned turbocharger, increased air intake flow rate and a new, more efficient exhaust system.
